주여, 제 아들을 이렇게 만들어주소서.

정직한 패배에 부끄러워하지 않고 꿋꿋하며

승리에 겸손하고 온유하게 하소서.

Build me a son, O Lord...

one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat,

and humble and gentle in victory...

비오니 그를 평탄하고 안이한 길이 아니라

고난과 도전의 긴장과 자극 속으로 인도해주옵소서.

그래서 폭풍우 속에서 분연히 일어설 줄 알고

넘어지는 사람들에 대한 연민을 배우게 하소서.

Lead him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort,

but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge

Here, let him to stand up in the storm;

here, let him team compassion for those who fall

마음이 맑으며 높은 목표를 갖고

남을 다스리려 하기 전에 먼저 자신을 다스리고,

소리 내어 웃을 줄 알되 울 줄도 알고

미래로 나아가되 결코 과거를 잊지 않은 아들로 만들어주소서.

Build me a son whose hert will be clear, whose goals will be heigh;

a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men;

one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep;

one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past...
