The Road Not Taken

노란 숲 속에 길이 둘로 갈라져 있었다.
안타깝게도 두 길을 한꺼번에 갈 수 없는
한 사람의 여행자이기에, 오랫동안 서있었다,
한 길이 덤불 속으로 구부러지는 데까지
눈 닿는 데까지 멀리 굽어보면서;

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

그리고 다른 한 길을 택했다, 똑같이 아름답고
아마 더 좋은 이유가 있는 길을,
풀이 우거지고 별로 닳지 않았기에;
그 점을 말하자면, 발자취로 닳은 건
두 길이 사실 비슷했지만,

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

그리고 그 날 아침 두 길은 똑같이
아직 밟혀 더럽혀지지 않은 낙엽에 묻혀있었다.
아, 나는 첫 길은 훗날을 위해 남겨두었다!
길은 계속 길로 이어지는 것을 알기에
내가 과연 여기 돌아올지 의심하면서도.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

어디에선가 먼 먼 훗날
나는 한숨 쉬며 이 이야기를 하고 있겠지:
숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있었다고, 그리고 나는-
나는 사람들이 덜 걸은 길을 택했다고,
그로 인해 모든 것이 달라졌다고.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
